FFLX Keeper Rules

THE DRAFT

1) Format:  Snake Draft

Because this is a snake format, draft position is very important and different Managers have different philosophies in where they prefer to draft, therefore...

RULE CHANGE - 2) Draft order for the bottom 4 teams will be determined through a manually tracked relegation playoff during weeks 14, 15, and 16...first round being week 14.  Final round will be a combined total of weeks 15 and 16.  Winner gets first choice of draft pick, much like our regular playoffs.

EXAMPLE:

3) Draft order for playoff teams will be determined by playoff results/standings.

EXAMPLE:  If Manager X finishes the regular season in 8th place, but finishes as a 5th place playoff team, Manager X will be treated as a 5th place finisher in the league when it comes to draft order priority.

4) The last choice will always be given to the winner of the playoffs.

KEEPER RULES

1) Players drafted in the first 3 rounds cannot be kept.

2) Keepers will move up 2 rounds per draft.

EXAMPLE: Should Player X be drafted in the 6th round one year and kept for the following year, Player X would be drafted in the 4th round.

3) If there are two players who sit at the same draft spot (two Keepers who are 11th round picks), one of the players will have to be moved up the 10th round.

4) Keepers will always be used with a Manager's original pick, unless it has been traded away.

5) You can never keep two Keepers in the same round, even if a Manager has acquired multiple draft picks for that round.

6) Should a Manager want to keep a second Keeper, that player will have to be kept using the Manager's next available round below the first Keeper.

EXAMPLE:  Say a Manager has two Keepers in the 8th round, one of those players can be kept in the 8th round while the second Keeper will have to be kept in the 7th round (or next nearest pick)

7) Teams can keep a player on their roster for a total of 3 consecutive years (or kept twice). This is reset for each new team that player is traded to.

8) All Free Agent pickups will be treated as 8th round keepers, unless their draft position was in the 7th round, or below.

EXAMPLE 1: Player X drafted in the 12th round...dropped...pickedup as a FA...can be kept as an 8th round Keeper

EXAMPLE 2: Player Y drafted in the 6th round...dropped...pickedup as a FA...can be kept as 4th round Keeper.

9) Free Agent pickups can be made starting 11 a.m. EST, 8 a.m. PST. This will avoid the 3 a.m. wake-up calls for those managers on the West Coast. Teams who pick up players on FA prior to the time 11 a.m. EST/8 a.m. PST, a mild penalty of $5 will be charged and I will drop the player from the team.

10) Waiver pick-ups can NOT be kept.

NEW RULE - 11) Any left open spots on any team will be retroactively filled with the player on the bench with the least amount of points.

When a team does not have a backup DEF or K:  Teams reserve the right to not start a DEF or K if they choose not to spend the money or risk dropping their K or DEF.  So, no more penalties for those.

NEW RULE - 12) Regardless of Free Agency or Waivers, players picked up during the playoffs cannot be kept.

TRADING

1) Teams can trade any pick, but must keep at least 2 picks in the first 3 rounds.

2) Owners must swap an equal number of draft picks in any single trade.  An owner can NOT end up with more or fewer draft picks than any roster spots available.

EXAMPLE:  (Player X) FOR (Player Z & Draft Pick Y) is an invalid trade.......(Player X & Draft Pick W) FOR (Player Z & Draft Pick Y) is a valid trade

3) Off-season trading will be limited to Draft Picks only and only within a pre-determined window set by the the League.

1) $100 per team entry

2) Add/Drop transaction will cost $2.

RULE CHANGE - 2a) Playoff add/drops cost $5 and the money will go to the playoff winner.

3) $5 penalty fees for breaking the 11 a.m. EST / 8 a.m. PST Free Agent pickup rule.
